In a number of places I had to use get_root_namespace or get_root_global rather than get_namespace or get_global. I'm not really clear why this was necessary, and the mixture seems quite untidy, so I welcome feedback on where I've gone wrong with this.

I spent a couple of hours tonight trying to rewrite the test following the patch. I did not get very far.

Unless the original poster wants to update the patch, I think we should reject it.
