In 2019, Kaif once again collaborated with Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar in the drama Bharat, an adaptation of the South Korean film Ode to My Father (2014). She replaced Priyanka Chopra, after the latter opted out days before filming her scenes. The film became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2019.
