The fourth instalment of Shetty's Cop Universe, it stars Akshay Kumar as ATS chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi opposite Katrina Kaif with supporting cast of Jaaved Jaaferi, Vivan Bhatena, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Sikandar Kher and Nikitin Dheer. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in extended cameo appearances reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films. Kumar's character was announced towards the end of Simmba that served as a character introduction of Sooryavanshi. Initially locked for theatrical release on 24 March 2020, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The film was scheduled for theatrical release on 30 April 2021. In April 2021, the release date of film was postponed indefinitely due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and lockdown in Maharashtra. After several delays, Sooryavanshi was theatrically released worldwide on 5 November 2021 coinciding with Diwali. It has grossed over ?288 crore in India. He has formed a sleeper cell network consisting of 40 terrorists who pose as Indians to set more bombings after the 26/11 Attacks, one of whom is his son Riyaz Hafeez. In Jaisalmer, Surya and his team nab Riyaz who had a different identity there. Surya's senior Kabir Shroff reveals about a full ton of RDX being brought to India, of which 400 kilograms were used during those bombings and the remnant 600 kilograms are still buried somewhere in India. Surya plans to catch the sleeper cell's remaining members, even as he remembers his wife Ria Gupta. 9 years ago, Surya was wounded by a bullet and Ria cured him. They fell in love, married, and became parents to a son Aryan. 8 years later, Surya tried to nab a man where Ria and Aryan were present, which culminated in Aryan being shot. Although he came out healthy, an angry Ria slapped Surya and told him that he can't sacrifice his family just to fulfill his duty, and she left him, taking Aryan with her to Australia. Back to the present, Surya comes across an Islamic priest Kadar Usmani, later revealed to be a terrorist, and finds Bilal Ahmed, whose residence houses the wanted 600 kilograms of RDX. Usmani and Bilal remove RDX from the ground and prepare for their next bombings until when Bilal leaves for Mumbai, where taxi driver John Mascarenhas takes him to Bangkok in exchange of ?5 crore.
