Make sure the design document and implementation for bytecode are synchronized. Some of the work may be updating the design document, and some of it may be implementing specified features.

git blame docs/pdds/pdd13_bytecode.pod suggests that the bulk of this PDD was written by Jonathan Worthington in September and October 2006.

Is there anyone who could evaluate whether it needs updating?

Bytecode is in a state of flux and we've specifically excluded it from our supported external interface. A design document is valuable in the sense that it explains the design of the system for the benefit of our developers, although I suspect two things:

• The current text of PDD13 is not well synchronized with the current implementation of the bytecode format
• The current text of PDD13 is absolutely not related at all to our future plans for that system.

I suggest we move PDD13 to draft if it isn't there already, close this ticket, and eventually rewrite that document from the ground up when we have a new design (or new implementation) in place.
